Bidwell Food & Clothing Pantry

Needed Items & Donation Drop Off Information

You can make a difference by volunteering your time or donating much needed items.    

To coordinate a donation drive, contact Missy Reams by email at mreams@bidwellriverside.org or by phone at 515-244-6251 ext. 5.

 

   

Donation Drop off Information: 

No appointment is needed to drop off donations. Items may be dropped off during the following hours: 

  • Monday through Friday 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

  • Address:  1203 Hartford Ave, Des Moines, IA 50315

  • Pull up on the cement slab in front of the pantry and Pantry staff will come out and grab the donations. We have someone monitoring the parking lot.

  • No out of season clothing

  • No magazines, records, compact disks (CDs), video tapes and DVDs

  • No games, toys and sports equipment

  • No lamps

  • No collectibles, antiques, knickknacks and other gift-ware

  • No hand tools and small power tools

  • No strollers

  • No car seats or booster seats

  • No furniture

  • No mattresses/box springs or bed frames

  • No TVs or electronics including stereos, radios, VCRs, DVD players, etc.

  • No computers, laptops, or monitors of any kind

  • No cribs, high chairs, or walkers

  • No soiled clothing

  • No household chemical products such as pesticides, paint, paint thinner, and other environmentally-unfriendly waste products.

  • No automotive hazardous waste such as tires, lead acid batteries, additives, gasoline, oils, antifreeze, etc.

  • No large appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, stoves/ovens, washers/dryers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, furnaces, etc.

  • No carpet or carpet padding

  • No plumbing fixtures or building materials

  • No weapons such as guns, bows and arrows, ammunition, hunting knives, etc.

  • No used food containers (or cool whip containers, etc.) or plastic to-go cups from convenience stores

  • No medical equipment (such as wheel chairs, walkers, breathing machines, crutches, etc.)
